The Midwives Alliance of North America Statistics Project (MANA Stats) collects data on birth and associated perinatal care and outcomes, focusing on community births attended by midwives. This dataset is intended to support research on midwifery practice and physiological birth with the goal of improving care of women and babies and increasing the choices available to childbearing families.
The MANA Statistics Project web site was originally created by Harris-Braun Enterprises and Bruce Ackerman. The original site was launched in November 2004 with a second version released in 2009. In early 2009, the site launched a new data form developed using a Community Based Participatory Research model. In 2022, the Midwifery Alliance of North America secured the future of MANA stats through the creation of a modernized platform with the expertise of Fred and Amanda Teye.
The 4.0 birth form has been validated for use in research.
MANA Stats Plus is built to merge all the functionality of manastats with contemporary services. The system is designed to enhance data utilization and research collaboration.
